Kani Shawl
An Heirloom of Woven Artistry from the Valleys of Kashmir
The Kani Shawl is more than a garment—it is a living legacy of Kashmir’s most intricate and revered weaving tradition. Originating in the small village of Kanihama, this masterpiece is handwoven from pure pashmina wool using tiny wooden bobbins called kanis, each acting as a brush in the hands of a skilled artisan. No embroidery. No printing. Just a painstaking weave that brings complex patterns and vivid motifs to life—thread by thread.
A Technique Passed Through Generations
Unlike other shawls, the Kani is created entirely on a handloom, following a coded design script called Talim, handed down from master to apprentice. This ancient method, once reserved for royalty, demands patience, precision, and unmatched artistry. Each shawl can take several months to complete, making it one of the rarest and most prized textiles in the world.
Crafted from Pure Pashmina
Soft as air and luxuriously warm, the shawl is woven from the fine undercoat of the Changthangi goat, native to Ladakh. The result is a featherlight drape that offers supreme comfort, warmth, and elegance—ideal for all seasons and occasions.
A Symphony of Design and Emotion
Floral vines, paisleys, chinar leaves, and Mughal-inspired motifs flow gracefully across the surface, narrating stories of nature, beauty, and tradition. The color palette ranges from classic earth tones to rich jewel shades—each hue carefully chosen to reflect timeless sophistication.
The Soul of Kashmir in Every Thread
Whether draped over the shoulders or gifted as an heirloom, the Kani Shawl is a statement of refined taste and cultural richness. It is not just worn—it is cherished, preserved, and passed on like poetry woven into cloth.
